Scope of the Project
So last week, the team and I started a project in Brooklyn, on Liberty Ave. Our client had received 4 HPD lead violations for the property. The violations consisted of a door frame in one bedroom, a window frame and wall in the other bedroom and a baseboard in the bathroom. Our goal was to completely abate the lead paint issues.
Start Date: June 9th, 2014
End Date: June 12th
Day 1 – Prepping for Lead Paint
Day 1 we setup the work area and covered all personal belongings with 6-mil poly in the area that we were working in. We put down plastic all over the floor to protect the work area from being exposed to lead dust. The first day we worked for 8 hrs setup the protective area and removed and installed the door frame. We vacuumed and removed all debris from apartment before we left for the day.
Day 2 – Lead
The 2nd day we got there are 8:30am and started to work on the window frame and wall in the 2nd bedroom. We encapsulated the wall with Eco-Bond lead blocker after we had wet scraped and areas of peeling or deteriorating paint. The window frame we removed and installed new ones.
It is always recommended to remove window frames and door frames as they are friction areas and it is better to encapsulate walls and baseboards which are non friction areas.
Day 3 – Lead Paint Encapsulation
The 3rd day we encapsulated the baseboard in the bathroom, cleaned up all debris, did a thorough HEPA vacuuming and mopped down the floors.

Day 4 – Third Party Lead Paint Testing
The following day the third party company came in to test for any lead dust and we received the results back within 48 hrs and everything was all cleared. Our client was happy with the quick and professional service we had provided him.
